Nagaland is a state located in the remote region of Northeast India. It is isolated geographically, presents with poor health indicators, lacks skilled healthcare workers and has poor infrastructure. Tribal communities make up almost 90 percent of Nagaland's population. Over 70 percent of the state’s population lives in rural areas.
Community Health Initiative (CHI), is a Non-Governmental Organization that was established in 2012 in Nagaland. CHI focuses on improving health in Nagaland. it works in the areas of Health Education, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Nutrition and Livelihood.
The vision of CHI is to support the development of healthier and sustainable communities in Nagaland. Within communities, CHI aims to support synergistically government structures, civil society, families and health workers. Furthermore, we provide innovative and evidence solutions to health as well as social challenges in Nagaland, India.
At the moment our target are some communities in Nagaland, India but in the future we would like to further upscale to other parts of Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs).
